Business aviation has continued to become more popular over the last 2-3 years. There has been an increase in private aircraft usage as travelers continue to learn the vast benefits of having a private aircraft at their disposal. It is truly a unique and incredibly flexible, safe and comfortable way to travel. In summer 2022, this trend has continued with data showing a consistent trend towards more travelers using private aircraft as well as the demand being highest during the summer.
The recent pandemic is the biggest reason for the initial increase in business aviation from late 2019 through early 2022. As restrictions continued to be lifted, trends somewhat persisted since first-time travelers using business aviation realized the unique advantages it offered. Data from WingX Advance shows that in the United States, leading up to the beginning of summer in March 2022, business aviation demand grew 30% higher than in March 2019 and 28% higher than in March 2021. Furthermore, Florida continued to be a major focal point of business aviation activity within the United States. Summer continues to show the highest demand over the year; naturally, this is a time when global travel increases. June’s increase is only 7% higher than last year. Although that is a lower increase than the first quarter up to March, this still shows a continuous increasing trend.
Travelers realized from the effects of the pandemic that business aviation offers a level of flexibility, time savings, comfort, safety, privacy and security unmatched by regular airlines. Flexibility allows you to fly into more airports closer to where you actually want to go. Private terminals offer time savings since there is no need for TSA and long waits by the gate. Private aircraft are built for extreme comfort with plush interiors, a peaceful atmosphere and the ability to have catering; plus, the ease of bringing your pet onboard. Additionally, for the discerning business traveler, privacy and security equals peace of mind. If you need to host important meetings while on the way to a destination, it will be no issue on a private aircraft, especially with onboard Wi-Fi and device connectivity.
