Known for its impressive speed and range capabilities, the Phenom 300 is a standout in the light jet segment. The Phenom 300 boasts a top speed of 859 km/h (534 mph, 464 knots) and a range of 3,723 km (2,313 mi, 2,010 nmi) with IFR reserves, and 7 to 8 occupants. This aircraft is capable of reaching a service ceiling of 45,000 feet.
The Phenom 300 is powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW535E1 turbofan engines, each providing a thrust of 3,478 lbf. The latest version of this jet holds the title of the fastest and longest-range single-pilot business jet, thanks to these more powerful engines.
This jet is not just about performance; it also offers comfort. It can accommodate 6 passengers in standard configuration, with a maximum capacity of 10. The cabin interior measures 4.9 ft tall, 5.1 ft wide, and 17.2 ft long, providing ample space for passengers and 71 cubic feet of luggage storage.
The Phenom 300 was first delivered in 2009, and over a decade later, it remains a leader in its segment. As of 2019, over 500 units had been delivered, and it was being used in over 30 countries, having carried 2.5 million passengers in 600,000 flights and 800,000 hours.
The cockpit of the Phenom 300 is rated for single-pilot operations and features the Embraer Prodigy Touch avionics, a modification of the Garmin 3000 system. Pilots find the Phenom 300’s handling nearly identical to that of its smaller sibling, the Phenom 100.
In terms of maintenance, the Phenom 300’s structural life is set at 35,000 hours or 28,000 cycles, whichever comes first. It requires one yearly inspection and a visit to the shop every 800 hours, plus periodic 24-month and 36-month inspections.
“The Phenom 300 has basically the best performance, best economies in class and it’s got the best comfort. Combining that all together, it just makes the perfect light jet for our clients. So the Phenom 300, you can modify it a little bit but basically, you can do eight passengers. You can go about 2,000 nautical miles at a cruise speed of 435. We normally cruise at about 43,000 feet; it’s got a 45,000 cruise height max.”
