On October 1, 2013, a government-wide shutdown went into effect, impacting services provided by nearly all government agencies. While the shutdown has not impacted basic aviation safety services, it has had an impact on many aspects of business aviation.
The NBAA (National Business Aviation Association) has been underlining the shutdown’s effect on the business aviation industry.
In a letter to members, Ed Bolen, NBAA President and CEO highlighted that the shutdown threatens the aviation industry with the elimination of jobs, closure of companies and the loss of millions in economic activity.Read More

South Beach Seafood Festival
The South Beach Seafood Festival, held Saturday, October 19, 2013, celebrates the seafood experience of Miami and helps kick off Miami’ Beach’s premier Stone Crab Season. The event features food, drinks, and all day entertainment hosted on the sand beaches in South Beach. Ten locally selected restaurants will feature a 20×20 culinary garden with seating, as well as various signature seafood items. Also included in the mix are full bars that offer wine, cocktails, and beer, all prepared by local mixologists. In addition, great live entertainment will be featured, such as music from local bands, culinary and cocktail demonstrations from featured chefs, and other interactive activities. Best of all, you can start the party early with an exclusive VIP kick off at Joe’s Stone crabs for a night of fresh stone crabs Thursday evening, October 17th. This past weekend Miami Beach welcomed thousands of spectators to the Miami Beach Polo World Cup. This annual tournament included a luxury filled four days under the Oceanside tents with polo matches viewed from VIP lounges, post match after parties, and gourmet cocktails and hors d’oeuvres.
The competition took place ocean side just steps from the luxurious Setai Hotel & Resort between 21st and 22nd Street.
